Bobby Locke

Bobby Locke graduated from Crosby High School in 1999. After graduating from Stephen F. Austin State University, he began his coaching career at West Rusk County Consolidated ISD in East Texas where he coached five sports. After West Rusk, Bobby and his wife, Jennifer, moved to the Houston area, where he joined the coaching staff at Barbers Hill ISD. There, he coached football, basketball, and track - helping the district win multiple championships. He especially loved coaching pole vault, and many of his vaulters went on to advance to the regional level, and some even earned the opportunity to vault in college.

Bobby then moved to C.E. King High School (Sheldon ISD) where he coached football and was the head boys and girls track coach. During his time period, he helped many athletes reach beyond the regional meet to get to the UIL State Track Meet. It was also at C.E. King that Coach Locke helped start the Wheelchair Division of the track program, which eventually led to a state champion.

After his stint at C.E. King, he then went to Goose Creek Memorial (GCCISD) in Baytown where he was the assistant head football coach and head track coach. In his first year there, he helped a female long jumper earn a bronze medal at the UIL State Track Meet. During his three years at Goose Creek Memorial, Coach Locke helped over 20 athletes fulfill their dreams of becoming a college athlete. During his tenure at Goose Creek, Locke was named the Assistant Coach of the Year for Southeast Texas.

Throughout his years in Southeast Texas, Coach Locke has spent countless hours working with the Southeast Texas Coaches Association (SETCA). He served as President from 2013 to 2018, and Secretary from 2011 to 2013. During his time, the association morphed from just a football all-star game to having eight multi-sport games that stretch over a week during the “CHRISTUS All-Star Classic.” For his efforts, Bobby was inducted into the Southeast Texas Coaches Hall of Honor in January of 2024. He is one of the youngest inductees to ever receive this distinction by the SETCA.

At present day, Bobby still works to keep the motto “Helping Coaches to Help Kids” at the heart of SETCA, and at the heart of his personal and professional life. He has been married to Jennifer for 18 years now, and they have two kids, Olivia and Jackson. He currently works for GCCISD and coaches youth sports in Barbers Hill.
